Many of our clients will be staying here for just one night, at the beginning or end of their Namibia safari. However, if you have time, here are a few things to see and do in Windhoek.
Founded in 1990, this state-owned attraction aims to preserve the country’s art, while encouraging the current art scene. It also offers permanent exhibitions of art from elsewhere in Africa and even from Europe, making it a must-visit for art fans!

This museum is divided between two sites. At Alta Feste, the focus is the colonial history of Namibia, while Owela has some geological collections and showcases aspects of traditional village life.

Positioned between Alta Feste and the Lutheran Christ Church, this museum is North Korean in style, in contrast to the German buildings on either side. Inside, you’ll find information about the anti-colonial resistance and Namibia’s struggle for national liberation.

As well as the Christ Church, Windhoek is home to other Lutheran places of worship. You can also take a look at Roman Catholic and Baptist buildings. There are Muslim mosques too.

From victory statues to castles, the city holds plenty of aesthetic interest. Its Zoo Park is beautifully landscaped and includes a playground, a pond, and an al fresco theatre.

As you’d expect, there are lots of shopping opportunities and eateries in Namibia’s capital city. For more information about Windhoek, or anything to do with staying at The Weinberg, please get in touch with a member of our team.

The Sky Lounge is the setting for sundowners and tapas, and it’s ideal for relaxation at the end of the day. Alternatively, you could simply order a few treats from the delicatessen and either head out on a picnic or get comfy in the privacy of your own room. And if you require a spot of pampering during your stay, you can pop to the on-site 5-star Soulstice Day Spa for a variety of revitalising treatments including massages, mani–pedis, and facials.
