  • Sunrise or sunset scenic drives allow guests to be fully immersed in the desert landscape, looking out for resident wildlife, while taking in the remotest corners of the reserve. Full-day or half-day options are also available.

  • Guided by a knowledgeable Bushman, explore the Namib dunes on foot, taking in the small, vital details of this extraordinary ecosystem. Look out for the toktokkie beetle and the indigenous dancing white lady spider as it dashes across the sand.

  • Connect to nature in complete silence during this unique 30–45 minute signature solitude experience. You’ll venture to a remote, tranquil spot for some reflection time in the desert, tuning into nature, far away from all noise and distractions.

  • Set off on an unforgettable horse riding adventure where you’ll marvel at the untamed beauty of the desert, admiring the landscape and pausing along the way for a secluded picnic lunch. Please note that this activity incurs an additional cost.

  • A seasonal experience available from September to May for stays of 3 nights or more, these involve sleeping beneath a myriad stars amidst the dunes of the Namib Desert and savouring the epic surrounding wilderness. You’ll be accompanied by a dinner hamper for an unforgettable evening meal, and you’ll awaken to an early morning coffee. Access & Location

Wolwedans Desert Lodge is located in a 2,100 square kilometre private reserve in southern Namibia’s Namib Desert. Scheduled flights operate from Windhoek and Swakopmund to Keerweder Airstrip, a 45-minute drive from Wolwedans. We can also arrange private charters to Wolwedans Airstrip, approximately 20 minutes by car to the lodge.

The understated style lends itself perfectly to the surrounding desert landscape, with large natural weave rugs, leather armchairs, antique furniture, and simple rattan lampshades. Outside, there’s a fire-pit for pre-dinner drinks, where guests can also gaze at the night sky while sharing stories of the day’s adventures. Dining is generally communal, but guests can opt for private dining on request.

The chalet-style accommodation at Wolwedans Desert Lodge comprises seven standard tents and three family suites, with floor-to-ceiling canvas blinds that open to the desert and optimise the jaw-dropping views from every angle.

Connected by an elevated wooden walkway, each spacious standard unit has a front-facing king-sized bed beneath a mosquito net canopy, bedside tables with reading lights, a writing desk, a luggage rack, a storage trunk, and a table and chairs for two guests. The bathrooms are also designed to take in the views, and each of these features a double vanity unit, a walk-in shower, and a flush toilet. Outside, you’ll find a spacious veranda with shaded sunloungers, a small plunge pool, and a simple seating arrangement ideal for stargazing or simply admiring the uninterrupted vista. The family suites have two bedrooms separated by a canvas wall and a shared bathroom.
