  • Magashi is the only private access area in Akagera, making game drives here truly exclusive. Learn all about the conservation work involved in reintroducing wildlife, such as lion and black rhino, into the area. You’ll also likely encounter elephant, buffalo, Maasai giraffe, zebra, and perhaps even the odd leopard.

  • By night, an intriguing world unfolds as nocturnal species emerge. Led by your experienced guide, venture through the park with filtered spotlights, keeping an eye out for elusive creatures big and small. Listen out for a lion’s roar, a hyena whooping in the distance, or a jackal’s cry. Night drives in the bush are always thrilling!

  • Two luxurious pontoons and a swamp cruiser are available for guests to explore the lake year-round, accompanied by picnic lunches and sunset drinks. Wildlife viewing from the water is stunning, with regular sightings of rhino, elephant, and buffalo, and even leopard and lion on occasion.

  • The camp provides basic equipment for catch-and-release fishing excursions throughout the year.

  • Akagera National Park is a fantastic birding area with more than 500 recorded species. Bird enthusiasts should look out for the papyrus gonolek in the papyrus swamps, the red-faced barbet, and the swamp flycatcher.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course
