Kichaka Wild is located in a remote area on the eastern side of Ruaha National Park. Access is by light aircraft to Msembe Airstrip (a 1.5-hour flight from Dar es Salaam), followed by a 3-hour game drive.

Activities at Kichaka Wild focus on walking safaris, but guests also enjoy day and night game drives, birding, photography, and some incredible stargazing.
Kichaka Wild is known for its exceptional walking safaris, personally led by owner Andrew Molinaro. You’ll discover the diversity of this remote ecosystem and its outstanding wildlife, including a remarkable collection of bird species.

Explore Ruaha’s varied wildlife from a fully equipped game drive vehicle. The park contains one of the highest elephant concentrations in the world, besides lion, leopard, and the elusive African wild dog.

Night drives introduce visitors to the after-dark world, where pangolin, hyena, civet cat, bat-eared fox, and genet feature among the active species. Venture into the night with a spotlight and high-tech thermal imaging devices, and explore the wilderness as darkness settles. Please note, there is an additional $100 Tanapa fee per person for this activity.

Ruaha National Park is an exceptional birding destination, with a staggering 575 species recorded. These include Pel’s fishing owl, pied kingfisher, red-headed weaver, northern carmine bee-eater, and scops owl, to name a few.

The Kichaka guides are passionate about photography and well versed in how to take superb wildlife shots. Whether on foot or in a game drive vehicle, they’ll help you capture those lifetime memories while learning new skills in wildlife photography.

Zero light pollution means total darkness and incredible views of the night sky. A good pair of binoculars can provide great visibility, and this is a wonderful way to spend evenings in the bush.

Kichaka Wild is an exclusive-use, expedition-style camp designed for true adventurers.
Featuring three simple canvas dome tents, the camp is typically set up in evocative locations along riverbanks or within shady forests. It accommodates just six guests, and each tent is furnished with comfortable cot beds, ensuring a restful sleep surrounded by the sounds of the African night. Adjacent to the tents are typical bush-style amenities – private basins, refreshing bucket showers, and discreet short-drop loos. Step outside, and your front awning offers a simple, shaded space ideal for pulling up a camp chair, with an early morning cup of coffee, and quietly taking in the beauty of Ruaha’s landscape.
