Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp is owned and operated by Nasikia Camps, a company with a portfolio of mobile and semi-permanent properties located across Tanzania. These include camps and lodges in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tarangire National Park, Ruaha National Park, and more! This Serengeti property sets up in the park’s Bologonja region from June to October, and in the Ndutu area from December to March. The accommodation is usually booked on a full-board basis, including all meals and Wi-Fi.

  • Game drives are available during morning and late afternoon into evening, presenting exhilarating opportunities to follow the Great Migration!

  • The huge herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles enter the Bologonja region in June, remaining until October. During this time, they make frequent dashes across the Bologonja and Mara rivers, where hungry crocodiles lie in wait! Come December, the herds enter the Ndutu area, making the southern Serengeti’s short-grass plains their home well into March. Calving takes place in February, so that’s the time to visit if you’re hoping to see the adorable newborns!

  • The presence of so many herbivores naturally attracts a lot of predators throughout the year – lion, leopard, and cheetah are just three such species – and there’s a lot of other wildlife to look out for, including ample birdlife.

  • If you’d appreciate a bird’s-eye view of all the animal action on the plains, we highly recommend a hot air balloon safari! The balloon launches at dawn, and you have at least an hour in the air to observe the Serengeti and its inhabitants before descending to a delicious breakfast.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Access & Location

While the camp is in the Bologonja region, it’s accessed via 45 minutes’ road transfer from Lobo Airstrip. Travellers to the Ndutu camp fly in to Ndutu Airstrip and are driven for 25 minutes to reach their destination. Both camps are set up on the Serengeti’s plains, surrounded by iconic flat-topped acacia trees!

*As this is a mobile tented camp, the location will change throughout the year based on the camp’s position. Mobile tented camps relocate seasonally to follow wildlife movements. Temporary but fully serviced, mobile tented camps leave no permanent trace and offer access to remote wilderness areas far from the crowds.

The veranda of each tent is a great spot for relaxing or enjoying some good food while marvelling at the Serengeti scenery! The lounge tent contains plenty of comfortable seating around a central coffee table, and there’s an adjacent bar. In the dining tent, guests can choose to dine separately or together. Throughout camp there’s an adventurous and friendly atmosphere, especially around the fire-pit – here, everyone gathers to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and to talk safari!

At both locations, any number from eight to twelve guest tents can be rigged up, with a honeymoon suite positioned at a distance from the other accommodation.

All tents are Meru style – an outer layer of canvas extends over the inner layer to form a shady veranda. Each standard tent’s interiors include a double bed or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a luggage rack, and a rug or two for a homely feel. The en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, washbasin in vanity unit, and separate shower. The family tent can accommodate up to two adults and two children.
