Game drives, walking safaris, cultural visits, hot air balloon rides, and photographic vehicles

Whether you’re witnessing thunderous Great Migration river crossings or experiencing the Serengeti’s quiet beauty outside peak season, the sightings from The Retreats at Sayari Camp are world class. Open-sided vehicles ensure you never miss a photo opportunity, with on-board power to plug in your devices and a handy fridge stocked with cold drinks for refreshing sundowners.

Walking safaris offer an intimate connection with the finer details of the Serengeti. Instead of watching from a vehicle, you’ll explore the terrain on foot, scanning for vibrant birdlife and looking out for fresh animal tracks and spoor. Discover the fascinating world of tiny reptiles basking in the sunlight and brightly coloured butterflies fluttering amongst the grasses.

Visit Merenga village, where you’ll meet Kuria locals and learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life. Then pass by the community vegetable gardens to collect fresh produce for your evening meal. Please note that cultural and community visits incur an additional cost.

A hot air balloon excursion offers a bird’s-eye view of winding rivers, forests, and the vast, golden plains of the Serengeti. Watch the Great Migration herds on the move or catch a glimpse of a predator after a night on the hunt. Upon landing, a gourmet champagne breakfast awaits – the ultimate finale.

Photographic safari vehicles have drop-down sides that allow photographers to capture incredible eye-level shots. Beanbags, foam camera rests, power points, fridges and 360-degree swivel seats guarantee a first-rate wildlife photography experience led by excellent guides.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
