  • The Serengeti National Park is a fabulous year-round destination for wildlife watching, with the area’s sprawling plains, woodlands, and water sources supporting a wide variety of species. Among the mammals in residence are all of the Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! You can also look out for smaller predators and herbivores, such as cheetah, hyenas, jackals, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and a fine assortment of antelopes. Drives usually take place in the early morning and late afternoon, although you might like to arrange full-day game drives as well. At Songa Tented Camp, guests enjoy the exclusivity of a private vehicle.

  • The camp is able to organise hot air balloon rides , so you can get your own bird’s-eye view over the park. This activity begins shortly before dawn, with the balloon rising in time for you to enjoy the sunrise followed by a couple of hours of spotting game. You’ll descend to an extravagant champagne breakfast in the bush.

  • Such intense concentrations of wildebeest and zebra attract impressive numbers of big cats in turn – look out for lion, leopard, and cheetah lurking on the banks of the river! There’s a lot of other resident wildlife too, including hyenas, jackals, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and an exciting variety of antelopes. The birding is superb, featuring everything from raptors to songbirds to waterbirds.
