Sleep-outs

  • Led by an experienced guide with an armed National Park scout, explore the North Luangwa’s untrodden wildlife trails on leisurely 4-hour safari walks. You’ll depart after breakfast, ready to scan the terrain for game, as well as all the small, fascinating details so vital to this ecosystem. You might see last night’s lion spoor, elephant tracks, a variety of birds, or a little dung beetle – everything has its place and your guide will bring the tiniest details to life! Stop at a shady spot for morning tea and return to camp in time for a delicious buffet lunch.

*Please note that the minimum age for walking safaris is 12 years.

  • After tea in camp, guests shower and prepare for a night out in the bush immersed in nature. You’ll set off on a short wildlife-viewing activity ending at the sleep-out location usually on the banks of the river. Enjoy sundowners by the fire, dine on delicious food cooked on an open fire, and sleep under a net gazing up at the night sky. An experienced guide and armed scout will stay nearby for your safety. Please note that this experience must be booked in advance.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Two of these are twin rooms and the other two are doubles, each designed entirely from natural materials and lit by solar-powered lamps. In keeping with the Remote Africa style, the Mwaleshi interiors are rustic and uncluttered, blending in seamlessly with the natural environment. Two camping chairs are stationed at the window for maximum exposure to the gorgeous river views, and there are bedside tables with reading lights, shelves, and hanging storage space. The open-air bathrooms have running water from overhead drums that are filled daily, and hot showers are available every night.
