Tongabezi is the perfect luxury hideaway, yet it’s close enough to Victoria Falls for travellers to enjoy a wide range of activities at the world’s largest waterfall. The accommodation includes options for honeymooners and families.

Privately owned and run, Tongabezi is one of the most famous properties on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. We’ve always loved its quiet location – it’s ideal for travellers seeking a peaceful base from which to head out on trips to the Falls and surrounds. The accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, on-site activities, and a laundry service. Tongabezi is open throughout the year.

The cottages are spaced along the banks of the Zambezi river, and they’re made out of timber and thatch, in keeping with traditional safari accommodation. Entering a cottage, you’ll find a bedroom containing a double bed or twin beds with mosquito netting, bedside stands and lighting, a ceiling fan, a writing desk and chair, a separate seating area, and ample storage space. The en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, walk-in shower, and freestanding bathtub. Each cottage has its own veranda too, where you can relax and enjoy lovely river views! And during your stay you’ll be well looked after by a private valet, who’ll attend to your every need. All the houses here are allocated a private valet too, and all bar Garden House boast beautiful elevated views over the Zambezi from a private balcony or veranda. Constructed out of timber, thatch, and glass for the most part, they offer all the amenities of the river cottages in addition to a lot more space. Couples can choose between the adventurous Bird House, cliff-front Tree House, and intimate Nut House. Honeymoon House is our top pick for honeymooners, with its nicely secluded setting and gorgeously eclectic style. Both Dog House and Garden House are sufficiently spacious to accommodate a family or a small group. Nut, Dog, and Garden also boast a pool!
