MORE Family Collection is a fourth-generation South African business, founded in the 1930s by Guy Aubrey Chalkley. The brand’s luxury lodges, hotels, and private residences are located in Sabi Sand, Kruger National Park, Thornybush Nature Reserve, Marakele National Park, and Cape Town. MORE Family Collection has a philanthropic division, which focuses on four pillars – health, sustainability, education, and investing in local communities. A core part of the company’s work is concerned with reducing social inequality and dependency. MORE is also committed to reducing its carbon footprint and aligning with environmentally friendly practices.

We particularly rate the lodges in Marakele National Park, as this is such a unique Big Five experience in a relatively little-visited part of South Africa. The region is a great malaria-free option for families, and Marataba Safari Lodge is well suited to children as the Mack & Madi Kids’ Adventure Safari Club has plenty to keep them entertained! The solar-powered Thabametsi Treehouse offers guests the chance to spend a night closely connected to nature, complete with lantern-lit dining and stargazing. Those seeking a hands-on conservation experience can participate in a rhino project such as collar fitting or microchipping of horns alongside a veterinary team. It’s easy to combine the MORE Family Collection properties as part of a circuit, including Thornybush Nature Reserve, Lion Sands Game Reserve, and even Cape Town.
