Nxabega offers a mix of land- and seasonal water-based activities. Please note the following minimum age requirements – 6 years for drives, 12 for boat rides, and 16 for walks and mokoro excursions.
The private Nxabega concession covers approximately 25,000 hectares of wetlands, mopane woodlands, and grasslands, supporting a great variety of wildlife. Drives take place during the morning and afternoon into the evening. Look out for predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog. Plenty of herbivores roam this terrain, including giraffe, zebra, and antelopes on the plains and hippo wallowing in the waters. Come nightfall, you might spot serval, caracal, and even the evasive pangolin.
Highly recommended for those hoping for close encounters with the smaller lives of the Delta, including its plants, insects, and myriad bird species. You’ll be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who’ll be happy to answer all your questions.
There’s endless fun to be had exploring the concession’s waterways on a boat cruise. From hippo to Nile crocodile and abundant waterbirds, boating activities showcase the Okavango Delta’s spectacular wildlife. Please note that boating is seasonal and depends on the water levels.
Glide silently through the endless water channels of the Okavango Delta, where marvellous opportunities abound to meet some of the smaller species, such as reed frogs and myriad birds, and to get a closer look at the spectacular flora.
Designed to showcase regions inaccessible by land or water, a helicopter ride is a jaw-dropping way to take in the landscape from an aerial perspective. Various flight times are offered and you can even ride with the doors removed for fabulous photo opportunities!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
&Beyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp is located on its own private island in the Okavango Delta’s picturesque Nxabega Concession. Guests access the camp via a light aircraft flight (approximately 20 minutes’ flying time from Maun) followed by a 15-minute road transfer from the airstrip.
The airy communal areas continue the flow of indoor–outdoor space overlooking the Boro channel.
An open-sided lounge, with teak wood floors and comfortable seating, extends onto the extensive wooden deck where guests can sit outside for morning coffee or pre-dinner drinks. The dining room sits under a thatched roof, and an adjacent coffee bar offers a range of snacks. Dining can be arranged communally, at individual tables, or al fresco in the open-air boma just behind the main lodge. A well-stocked safari boutique displays a beautiful assortment of curios, and there’s a small spa with a range of massage therapies. Gym-in-a-bag is available for keep-fit fans, and in-room spa services can be arranged upon request. The camp also has a decently sized plunge pool facing the floodplains with cushioned sunloungers.
Guest accommodation at &Beyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp consists of nine canvas tents and a two-bedroom family unit shaded by African ebony and leadwood trees.
Positioned on the banks of a shallow channel that runs off the Okavango Delta’s Boro river, tents are raised on wooden platforms with a light, fresh feel while staying true to the classic safari style with roll-up canvas, wood floors, and viewing decks. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable set-up with a front-facing double bed (twin beds also possible), bedside tables and reading lights, a vanity desk with a swing mirror, a reading chair, and a pedestal fan.
The en-suite facilities are behind a canvas partition where a large wardrobe contains a few useful items, including mosquito repellent, insect spray, and an emergency foghorn. The open-plan bathroom has a separate flush toilet, twin washbasins, a walk-in shower, and an outdoor rain shower. Additional amenities include a safe, a laundry bag, and a mini-bar with a selection of snacks. Outside on the deck, there’s a seating area lit up with lanterns by night, with safari chairs and a table, plus another section that features a swing seat sheltered under a sala – a wonderfully relaxing spot to take some shade and marvel at the views during the heat of the day. The family tent comprises two interleading standard tents linked by a closed canvas corridor and is ideal for small groups of those travelling with young children.
