Reliable favourite
Cathedral Peak first opened its doors as a hotel in 1939, and is still a firm favourite in the Drakensberg. Where the hotel lacks in style, it makes up for it in service and superb hospitality.

Although the hotel is large – 104 rooms in total– there is so much space outside, it is easy to forget that there are other people around! This is a fabulous area for walking or even mountain biking as there are miles of trails near the hotel.
There are numerous other activities to keep guests busy – guided horse and pony rides, tennis, squash, bowls, badminton, table tennis, mini golf, archery, a 10 m climbing tower, quad biking and even a spectacular 9 hole golf course.
There is also a recreation area with a large swimming pool, gym and steam bath.
The hotel is particularly good for children; activities include pony rides, a children’s playground, heated paddling pool, bouncy castle and a trampoline. There is a separate children’s dining room for younger children, and babysitting is available on request.
