  • Great choice
La Fontaine is a great property that ticks all the boxes in terms of value, location, service, and comfort. It does have quite an eclectic style, though, which can sometimes divide opinion!

The lounge defines lavish, with its plush seating, colourful cushions, elegant lighting, and wealth of little details such as fresh flowers, ornate mirrors, and all sorts of paintings and sculptures on display. There’s even a grand fireplace, a welcome feature during the chillier months here! Guests can make use of the hotel’s library too, which is also very sumptuous and ideal for taking some quiet time. Additionally, there are two breakfast areas – indoors and al fresco. Your first meal of the day is served between 8:00 and 9:30, offered with delicious locally roasted coffee. You can relax on the hotel’s veranda, in the shade of pergolas strewn with wisterias and vines. The gardens provide a lovely setting for a wander in between trips into and around Franschhoek. They include two swimming pools, both with inviting sunloungers alongside!

All options are individually and exquisitely styled. At entry level, there’s the Deluxe Room, featuring extra-length king-size bed, bedside lighting, a writing desk and chair, seating at the foot of the bed, and ample storage space. Additional amenities include air conditioning, LCD television, tea-and-coffee station, mini-bar, electronic safe, and hairdryer. The en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, and shower. The Luxury Room benefits from all these features, and it’s slightly larger. The Luxury Suite is more spacious still, with a bigger writing desk and an en-suite full bathroom. Finally, there’s the Mountain View Suite, and one of the two units in this category has a cosy fireplace! And as the name suggests, both have amazing mountain vistas.
