Le Paradis self-catering apartments are privately owned and run. During Easter and other festive periods, guests must stay a minimum of three nights. Cots and daybeds are available for babies and children, and other services include reception, concierge, housekeeping, and laundry. The apartments can be booked all year round.

  • With Walker Bay easily accessible on foot, most guests start their stay with whale watching – but many other attractions come highly recommended! The town boasts lots of brilliant beaches, including a lagoon that’s a fabulous safe option for children. You could spend a lot of time simply sunbathing, but walks and horse rides are also available.

  • Keen hikers might like to visit the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, which offers anything up to a full-day trek in the Kleinrivier Mountains above Hermanus. Farther afield, there are the Hemel & Aarde Valley vineyards, offering tours and tastings too!

  • The coastal town of Gansbaai, famous for offering cage diving with ferocious great white sharks, is just 40 kilometres’ drive away. And the distance from Hermanus to Cape Agulhas, Africa’s southernmost point, is 55km.

  • Hermanus itself has a wonderful range of restaurants and other eateries, as well as markets, museums, and shops. And the town hosts two whale festivals – one in August to welcome the first offspring into the world, and another towards the end of September, which is a general celebration of the magnificent mammals!

The apartments can be accessed via approximately 1 hour 30 minutes’ road transfer from Cape Town International Airport. They’re situated very close to the ocean, on Hermanus’ Marine Drive.

Floor space ranges from 174 to 266 square metres, with each unit accommodating a maximum of four adults and two children when the lounge is used for extra beds. The apartments are beautifully styled, with a cool-contemporary fresh feel. On the lower level, each has a well-equipped kitchen, a stylish dining room, and an elegant lounge with cosy fireplace. Upstairs are the bedrooms, with en-suite bathroom or shower room. All apartments are fully air conditioned, and additional amenities comprise satellite television, DVD player, electronic safe, hairdryers, iron and ironing board, and two secure parking spaces in the building’s basement. And each unit has a balcony or patio, complete with barbecue – you can enjoy al fresco dining while marvelling at the breathtaking ocean views!

Guests of Le Paradis can make use of a number of communal facilities at nearby Harbour House Hotel. For example, there’s the hotel’s Lookout Terrace, considered the finest whale viewing point in all Hermanus ! You can order snacks and sundowners from the bar, and get your binoculars out in readiness for a spectacular show. If you’re feeling a bit more energetic, you can hire bikes from the hotel and set about cycling around Hermanus. A private events room is available too, and all guests can enjoy access to uncapped Wi-Fi. And Harbour House’s spacious swimming pool (18 × 4 metres) is ideal for a refreshing dip! It’s a very short distance from the beach, so it’s another great spot for watching whales.
