Trip Itinerary
Victoria Falls
On the first day of your trip, you’ll touch down at Victoria Falls Airport for two nights in Zimbabwe. Your base will be the Victoria Falls Hotel, a very impressive property with amazing views of the Victoria Falls Bridge and Bakota Gorge below the waterfall itself. Communal areas include sumptuous lounges, three restaurants, a spa, a salon, a curio shop, two tennis courts, and a spacious swimming pool! The guest rooms are furnished in an Edwardian style and many have gorgeous views over the gardens. The hotel has its own Activities Centre, where friendly staff members arrange tours, watersports, helicopter and microlight flights, horse trails, elephant-back safaris in Victoria Falls National Park, river cruises, and village visits.
Chobe National Park
After your time in Victoria Falls, you’ll travel to the Chobe area and stay at Muchenje Safari Lodge. This property has a lovely location in the Chobe Forest Reserve, away from the busier eastern part of the Chobe National Park. From the lodge, there are wonderful views of the Chobe River and the floodplains. The communal main area is a traditional wood-and-thatch structure, housing a lounge, dining space, and bar. The property also has a great deck and a swimming pool! Guest accommodation consists of thatched cottages, all with river views from a private veranda. Muchenje is a comfortable lodge, in an area where you can easily explore the national park. You are sure to see plenty of wildlife on game drives, walking safaris, and boat trips – highlights include huge herds of elephant and buffalo, predators such as lion, leopard, and wild dog, and hundreds of species of bird!
Okavango Delta
After Chobe, it’s off to Splash Camp, a lodge located in the northern region of the Okavango Delta. Run by Kwando Safaris, this camp has a great location in the Okavango Delta’s largest private reserve. The communal spaces are found in a timber-and-thatch structure raised above ground level. Outside, there’s a fire-pit and a plunge pool. All guest rooms benefit from views of the floodplains, from a private veranda. Activities include day and night game drives, guided walks, boat cruises, mokoro excursions, and seasonal fishing and trips to nearby heronries. While on safari, you can look out for four of the Big Five, numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and an astonishing assortment of birdlife!
