Chula Island Camp offers a variety of activities both on land and water. There’s a high level of guiding here, guaranteeing a comprehensive overview of the Lower Zambezi.
Gentle walking safaris usually take place in the morning, before the hottest hours of the day. Accompanied by expert guides, you’ll learn about the smaller species not easily seen from a game drive vehicle, and may even spot some interesting animal tracks along the way! Please note that the minimum age for this activity is 14 years.

Explore the Zambezi River and its connecting water channels, keeping watch for crocs, hippos, myriad birds, and other wildlife gathering on the banks. This is a wonderful way to explore the wilderness in complete silence. Please note that the minimum age for this activity is also 14 years.

Take to the Zambezi River for scenic sundowners as the sun casts its colours across the sky. You’ll likely see plenty of wildlife emerge as the day’s heat subsides.

From May to November, guests can set off on the camp’s pontoon boat for some catch-and-release tigerfish angling. All the equipment you’ll need is provided, including rods, reeds, tackles, and lures.

A barbecue river lunch is such a special way to enjoy time on the Zambezi, with your feet in the shallow water and a front-row seat to the wildlife.

Water activities are a definite highlight of Chula Island, but game drives in Lower Zambezi National Park can also be accommodated. You might catch sight of lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo, among many other smaller species.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request a staff member to escort you if you have any concerns. Guests are escorted after dark as a matter of course.
