The Hide continues to be privately owned and run by the Prestons – with great success! Staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. The lodge offers excellent African cuisine featuring filling farmhouse breakfasts, lunches and dinners around a vast teak table, and a lot of al fresco options such as sundowners while on night safari.

Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Well-loved lodge
The Hide is an institution in Hwange. Having opened 30 years ago, it is still owner-run, and the benefit of decades of experience is evident.

  • Walking safaris take place in the morning, enabling guests to get up and close to nature. The guiding here is truly exceptional and the many hideaways dotted around the concession often make for some very dramatic encounters!

  • We especially recommend spending time in Dove’s Nest. This is essentially a tree house, from which visitors may sight animals passing under the tree and birdlife hopping among its branches.
