The lodge itself sits on the edge of a rocky bluff, overlooking the Chobe River, with spectacular views right across into Namibia ’s Caprivi Strip. Elephant, buffalo and zebra can often be spotted grazing on the plains below. We love Ngoma Safari Lodge for its location, which allows some respite from the busier Kasane area, and its range of activities. If budget is not a major concern, this is one of the finest lodges in Chobe for a safari holiday!

With some of the best reports online, Ngoma Safari Lodge has an incredible level of guest satisfaction. The views alone are reason to travel here, whilst the luxury levels and location away from the crowds only add to the appeal. It’s an expensive option for a public national park, but a property that delivers every time.

  • Activities here are centred on game drives and you will also have access to Chobe’s famous boating safaris.

  • Another benefit of this area is that you will be able to enjoy night drives and walking safaris, which are not possible in the national park. A word of caution, though: the boating safaris can only be done as part of a full day activity, which some find a little tiring, but it is well worth it in our opinion!

  • Chobe National Park is famed for having the largest elephant population on Earth, with giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippo and crocodile also not in short supply! Other star attractions are the incredible birdlife and some very rare antelope species. From time to time you may even be lucky enough to spot lion, leopard, hyena and wild dog.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Access & Location

The main area of Chobe, around the town of Kasane, can become very busy during peak season. Ngoma Safari Lodge is situated 55km west of this hub in Chobe Forest Reserve, surrounded by Chobe National Park. The benefit of this area is that you can avoid the crowds and you will not be restricted by the rules of the national park. However, you will still have access to Chobe National Park (the second largest park in Botswana) and the incredible concentrations of game to be found there.
