Situated in the heart of the Mwagusi area of Ruaha National Park, Nomad Tanzania’s Kigelia Camp has long been a favourite of ours, especially in combination with Sand Rivers, Nyerere (formerly Selous) to provide some excellent multiple-night-stay specials. Kigelia Ruaha’s aim is to blend into its environment with the emphasis on the experience but it is still more than comfortable, and for this reason we love this camp!

Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Consistently great
Nomad’s Kigelia Ruaha option is the best tented camp in the park. Combining this property with the exceptional Sand Rivers in Ruaha is the way to go – excellent value when you book the two camps together.

Activities

Activities include game drives, bush walks and picnics:

Game drives

Night drives

  • Besides the high-octane game drives that Ruaha is famous for, there is a strong emphasis on walking safaris.

  • Night drives are now also a possibility here, giving intrepid guests an insight into the very different world of the nocturnal creatures such as porcupine, genet and civet, and of course the much-coveted and rare pangolin.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Access & Location

Kigelia camp is located in one of the best areas for wildlife in Ruaha National Park, with large herds of elephant, numerous sightings of the big cats, and prolific birdlife.
