Mara Mara Tented Lodge offers some exciting activities:
The northern region of the Serengeti National Park is a fabulous year-round destination for wildlife watching, with the area’s sprawling plains, woodlands, and water sources supporting a wide variety of species. Among the mammals in residence are all of the Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! You can also look out for smaller predators and herbivores, such as cheetah, hyenas, jackals, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and a fine assortment of antelopes. Drives usually take place in the early morning and late afternoon, although you might like to arrange full-day game drives as well.

Stay at the lodge during the period from July to October, and you’ll enjoy opportunities to view the world-famous Great Migration! The Serengeti’s dry season sees the huge herds of wildebeest and zebra, push up through the northern part of the park as far as Kenya’s Maasai Mara in their search for food. You could even witness the dramatic Mara river crossings that take place at this time.

This experience is highly recommended for anyone interested in a bird’s-eye view of the Serengeti. Ascending just before sunrise, you’ll spend an hour drifting over the park and watching the wildlife, finally coming down to a delicious bush breakfast! This activity always incurs an extra cost and is usually best booked in advance, so please speak with us about adding it to your itinerary.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The communal lounge and dining areas at Mara Mara Tented Lodge occupy a large tent each.
The lounge tent features wood-framed well-cushioned seating around coffee tables, and a few board games. In the dining tent, there’s one long table where everyone eats together. Guests can also relax and dine on the viewing deck, while watching out for local wildlife. Bush dining is possible too, weather permitting. The lodge has a campfire that’s great for getting to know your fellow travellers and sharing safari stories – and there’s an inviting-looking swimming pool.
Guest accommodation consists of 16 tents, divided into North Camp and South Camp.
Each tent is made out of canvas and raised above ground level on timber decking. Inside, you’ll find a spacious bedroom, with a double bed or twin beds, bedside stands and solar-powered lighting, storage space, and a pleasant seating area. There is complimentary mineral water – and room service is available too. The en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, washbasin, shower, and a bathtub with a view! You can also sit and look out into the North Serengeti scenery from your private balcony, accessed from the bedroom and complete with a small table and a couple of safari chairs.
