Access & Location
Set on the northwestern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, Entamanu has a unique location that gets you away from the crowds and is beautifully off the beaten track. To get to the crater floor, it’s about 30 minutes’ drive along the rim to the Seneto descent road. The lodge has spectacular views, not only down over the crater floor, but also north-west as far as the Serengeti, Olduvai Gorge, and even the Gol Mountains – it’s a breathtaking spot! There’s excellent resident year-round wildlife on the crater floor, including rare rhino, lion, brilliant birdlife, and massive bull elephants. Please note that due to the altitude it can get chilly at night at the crater, so at least one warm jumper is recommended, although with Entamanu’s new cottages with indoor heating, cosiness comes as standard! Entamanu Ngorongoro is usually accessed via a 2-hour road transfer from Lake Manyara Airstrip. The crater is often part of a flying or driving circuit of northern Tanzania, including the Serengeti and Lake Manyara.
