Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Excellent value for luxury seekers
Kanana is one of the Okavango’s best value luxury properties. The lodge has always been one of the highest-ranked properties on TripAdvisor and a lodge that has good water levels for much of the year. With reliably good game at any time of year, there’s even better value to be found when Kanana is booked with its sister properties Danaka or Shinde.

  • Available during early morning and late afternoon into evening, drives cover a lot of ground, offering ample opportunities to view wildlife within Kanana’s private concession! As the property is primarily a wet camp from July to October, this activity is limited during that period.

  • Also enjoyed in the presence of knowledgeable and experienced guides, drives at night reveal the species that come out and play after sunset in the concession.

  • Again with guides, guests are able to explore this region of the Delta on foot, taking a close look at the plants, insects, and birdlife. The birding here is seriously impressive!

  • Guests are invited to board a motorboat, to marvel at the spectacular waterways around camp. This is another ace activity for keen birders, and you can look out for reptile species too!

  • This activity involves quietly traversing the Delta on a glass-bottomed canoe, all the while gazing down into the clear waters and spotting a treasure trove of fish and other life-forms.

  • This pastime is offered from March to December. Fisherfolk can have a lot of fun fishing for the likes of pike, tilapia, and sharptooth catfish.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Facilities

Kanana’s communal building remains in its previous position, just a short distance from the guest tents.

Its interiors feature the same palette as in the tents, as well as the same 1920s explorer theme. The lounge offers comfortable seating around coffee tables, in addition to snug rugs underfoot and elegant lighting overhead. In the dining space, there’s one long table where everyone eats together. Wildlife artwork adorns the walls in both spaces. Most excitingly, the extension of the communal area has resulted in an increase to the size of the property’s deck! And there’s a very inviting pool, where guests can enjoy a refreshing dip between activities.
