The park includes a wealth of water sources, as well as river banks, sandbanks, islets, and forests of big baobab, fig, ebony, and of course mahogany trees! Four of the Big Five live here – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. There are lots of smaller carnivores too, such as cheetah, hyena, and occasional wild dog, while the herbivore count features zebra, warthog, waterbuck, eland, impala, monkey, and baboon. Hippopotamus and crocodile abound in the park’s rivers, streams, and pools. All these species and more may well be viewed on expertly guided game drives within the concession.

Please note, walking safaris will be offered to travelers aged 16 years and over. However, youngsters will be invited to join nature walks around camp, so no one need miss out on taking a closer look at the concession’s plants, insects, and hundreds of colourful birds!

Canoe trips will also be possible, as will catch-and-release fishing.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Nyamatusi Mahogany’s communal lodge is a two-story timber-and-thatch structure, with pleasant lounge and dining areas plus a couple of bars.
The palette is quite neutral, and all furnishings have a contemporary flair. On each level of the lodge, there’s a viewing deck – on the lower level, it’s set with chairs and a sofa, perfect for relaxing and watching wildlife! From here, guests will descend a few steps into the fire-pit, an almost complete circle of cushioned seating around the campfire. As with many of the African Bush Camps property, the food and drink are very good and the service standards are sky-high!
There are four guest suites – two standard suites and two for family use – and they are large canvas tents elevated on wooden decking.
Inside, a lower level contains a seating area, and the upper level has a double bed. Twin beds are also available. Within the bedroom, there are mosquito nets, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, and storage furniture. Every suite is air-conditioned, and additional amenities include a mini-bar, a tea-and-coffee station, and a safe. The en-suite facilities are behind the bedroom – with twin washbasins, a flush toilet too, as well as an indoor and outdoor shower. Every suite boasts a private plunge pool and beautiful river views!
