With family members having grown up across Africa, Guy was fortunate enough to spend numerous occasions in the bush growing up. A love for wildlife, travel, and the continent ensued. After stints of living in East Africa, Guy embarked on a career in international development, traveling across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. Guy’s true passion has always been in the safari travel space, and he joins us as a Safari Specialist.

Guy’s Recent Travel Experience

Guy’s most recent travel experience was a week in the Lower Zambezi, his favorite safari destination. He was lucky enough to spend significant time with a pack of over 25 wild dogs, and see them almost every day. Other highlights of his trip included seeing two month-old lion cubs, elephants wandering through camp, and, of course, the unbeatable sunsets on the Zambezi River.

Guy’s Most Memorable Experience

“With so many memorable experiences to consider, it’s difficult to choose just one. One of my earliest memories of safari is from when I was a youngster, being desperate to spot my first leopard. We were enjoying a drink as the sun set, when our guide suddenly stopped and told us to get into the vehicle; he had clearly heard something. We drove 2 minutes round the corner and bumped into not one but two leopards, a mating pair. That memory always sticks with me and is one of the reasons why I am so obsessed with wildlife today! Spending time on foot with big game is always exhilarating. Another pretty special experience was seeing two male lions on foot in Mana Pools in Zimbabwe, and 10 minutes later we saw a leopard on foot too. Fairytale stuff!”

Guy’s Bio

Guy was born in the UK. As his father had grown up in South Africa, and his godfather was from Zambia, Africa was a big part of Guy’s upbringing. Several trips later, including numerous visits to Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, and more, Africa was well and truly established as his passion. Having spent a year traveling around East Africa before attending the University of Exeter, and another year living in Kenya afterwards, Guy initially embarked on a career in international development, inspired by his time living in Africa. Working alongside organisations such as the UN, the World Bank, and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, Guy traveled the world extensively, mostly to Africa, where he was able to enjoy weekends exploring the bush and the national parks with camera in hand.

Guy eventually came to the conclusion that he wanted to change things up and work in the industry where his main passion lies – Safari Africa. With a significant amount of travel experience in his back pocket, Guy joins Yellow Zebra with the intention of designing the very best trips and experiences for his clients.
