La Residence Franschhoek’s communal spaces are quite dazzlingly stylish, with more than a passing allusion to the court of Louis Quatorze.
The main lounge contains plenty of plush sofas and ornate armchairs, both straight- and bow-legged coffee tables, an interesting selection of wall artwork, and a very grand fireplace. The dining room is known as the Great Hall, and it features royal-red upright chairs around smoothly polished wooden tables, all positioned on a black-and-white chessboard floor. This is the setting for the hotel’s delicious buffet breakfasts, light lunches, and lavish dinners accompanied by fine wine or other beverages from the well-stocked bar. If you need to work off a few extra calories during your stay, you need only head to the gym, while La Residence’s spa is the place to go for a little pampering – treatments available include deep tissue massage and a body polish using Pinotage grape. You can relax on the hotel’s terrace too, take a stroll in the beautiful gardens, and enjoy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool!
Guest accommodation consists of 16 suites – 11 within the hotel and five amongst the vineyards.
Each suite has a particular color scheme and overall style, ranging from the homely oranges-and-yellows of the Honeysuckle Suite to the vibrant Chinese reds of the Tang Suite for a touch of regal splendor! Furnishings common to all hotel suites include a double bed or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, a writing desk and chair, a pleasant seating area, and ample storage space. En-suite facilities typically comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, walk-in shower, and bathtub with shower attachment. Some suites have access onto a private veranda, with breathtaking vineyard views! The Vineyard Suites offer two bedrooms and additional living space, and they’re an excellent option for groups and families. A couple of these suites have a private pool too, as well as a terrace that’s a great spot for private dining.
