The Turbine is an interesting place to stay due to its industrial connection. However, it has been built on quite a small plot, so although it has a very nice swimming pool and deck, it does not have a garden.
This area is one of the most attractive stretches of the Garden Route, with a spectacular coastline, sandy beaches, beautiful lagoons, miles of forest and the picturesque backdrop of the Outeníqua Mountains – definitely worth exploring during a visit.
The Turbine Hotel sits on Thesen Island in Knysna Lagoon. It is just a short walk across a causeway from the Knysna Waterfront and town center where there are some lovely shops and restaurants. It is approximately a 50-min drive from George Airport.
Although there is an industrial element to the architecture, it blends seamlessly with luxury.
The 25 suites are all extremely comfortable. Food is also good; there is a tapas bar for light meals and a very good restaurant for fine dining.
