A local lady named Agartha shows you how she and other women of the Bakiga tribe prepare food, all the while sharing with you her life story, and Deo, chairman of the local community group, tells you all about the challenges he encounters as a subsistence organic farmer. Meeting Agartha and Deo is well worth fitting into your itinerary, if you have enough time.
Game drives are available during early morning and late afternoon, where you can explore the national park’s wealth of wildlife and try spot the resident tree-climbing lions. Keen birders can be on the lookout for martial eagle, great flamingo, pink-backed pelican, shoebill stork, African skimmer, Chapin’s flycatcher, black-rumped buttonquail, and papyrus canary.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
Ishasha may be accessed by road or air. It takes a full day to drive here from Entebbe International Airport, 6 hours from Lake Mburo, 4 hours from Fort Portal, and 2 hours from the Bwindi area. Travelers approaching from Entebbe might well prefer to take a light-aircraft flight, followed by a road transfer of just 45 minutes. Whichever your mode of transport, when you arrive at Ishasha you will receive a warm welcome!

It is a very open building, providing lovely river views. The lounge contains lots of wood-framed well-cushioned seating around coffee tables, while the restaurant, incorporating the bar, has wooden chairs and tables. Interesting African artefacts adorn the back wall, and there are a few books strewn over the coffee tables. Dining may also be enjoyed down by the river, and Ishasha has a fire-pit area too. Additionally, Ishasha has a curio shop, as well as free Wi-Fi and recharging facilities within the dining area.
The guest accommodation here consists of ten tented rooms, all with views of the Ntungwe from a private veranda set with a table and a couple of chairs.

It is not uncommon for guests to spot wildlife wandering through camp, including topi, kob, and even elephant. Each tent is made out of timber, with a sturdy canvas roof. Enter through the wooden door, and you will find yourself in a spacious bedroom. There is either a double bed or twin beds, mosquito nets, storage chests, a writing desk and chair, snug rugs on the floor, and well-appointed en-suite facilities comprising flush toilet, washbasin, and bucket shower.
