This is a hotel we very rarely use in Entebbe, as we’ve always preferred smaller B&B-style properties. However, the Serena does offer a comfortable base in the city, and is particularly good for golf enthusiasts.

  • Close to Lake Victoria are Entebbe’s botanical gardens, also of interest to wildlife fans. You can expect to see hornbills, Marabou stork, and black-and-white colobus monkey – and the gardens host all sorts of events throughout the year.

  • The Uganda Wildlife Education Center is worth a visit too, as are Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and the shoebill-rich marshes of Mabamba.

Access & Location

Situated on the beautiful banks of Lake Victoria just 20 minutes from Entebbe, it is convenient for the international airport – and it is also only 20 minutes from Kampala, offering the opportunity for guests to take trips into Uganda’s capital too. The resort is usually accessed via road transfer from Entebbe International Airport. Plans are afoot to link it to the Entebbe–Kampala express highway connecting to Jinja, further opening this area of Uganda for travelers who like to explore.

In all, there are 124 suites and rooms. These come in three categories – Standard Room (114), Executive Room (8), and Presidential Suite (2). All rooms are situated within villas dotted around the resort’s garden grounds. Each is exquisitely furnished using a pleasant palette of cream and terracotta. Guests staying in a Standard Room may select either a queen-size bed or twin beds, and other features include bedside tables, a dressing table, a desk and chair, a seating area, a balcony, and a gorgeous marble bathroom. Every room benefits from air conditioning, as well as direct-dial phone with voicemail, flatscreen satellite television, Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee-making facilities, mini-bar, safe, and hairdryer. If you opt for an Executive Room, you can enjoy all the amenities of a Standard Room, but with a larger seating area, a larger desk, and two balconies. And for a super-sumptuous stay, there is the award-winning Presidential Suite category. Both suites are found within the main building, at penthouse level. They boast all the features of the Executive Room, but the bed is king size and there is a lot of extra space in the form of a reception room, a dining room adjoining a private kitchen, a private event or conference room, and accommodation for staff.
