Activities

Chikoko is a satellite camp accessed on foot and reserved exclusively for walking safaris. The camp is set in one of the best walking areas in the entire South Luangwa Valley. It’s unlikely you’ll see any other people, just an incredible variety of wildlife.

Walking safaris

  • Led by the superb Remote Africa guides, walking safaris are the focus at Chikoko Tree Camp. Venture into the Luangwa Valley, along stunning nature trails accessed only on foot, and observe all manner of wildlife, big and small. No day is the same on a walking safari. You might spot tracks that indicate a predator has recently passed through, or perhaps pause to gaze at a rare bird or tiny insect. From huge elephant and buffalo herds, to lion prides and towering giraffe, a walking safari takes you deep into the heart of the bush and up close to some of the most extraordinary wildlife on Earth.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Access & Location

Chikoko Tree Camp is located in the north of South Luangwa National Park. Guests typically begin with a few nights at Tafika Camp before embarking on a 3–4 hour walking safari to Chikoko.
