Royal Chundu River Lodge offers an exciting assortment of activities! These include the following:
The lodge owns a number of pontoon boats. Cruises on the River Zambezi take place at sunrise and sunset, offering a beautiful backdrop to your adventures on the water. Among the wildlife highlights you’ll enjoy are hippos, crocodiles, and a wealth of waterbirds! And during dry season, boats often anchor at ‘Ellie Corner’, where elephants come to bathe, drink, and socialise.

This activity is available during the morning, late afternoon, or night, or even for an entire day. Aboard a pontoon boat on the Zambezi river, you’ll get to know the region’s feathery friends thanks to Royal Chundu’s expert guides. Specials include eagles, jacanas, and kingfishers.

Also accompanied by an experienced guide, canoe trips involve paddling downstream in an inflatable craft through rapids and channels. A picnic spot provides time to rest and do a little birdwatching! Motorised canoeing is also possible.

River fishing is offered from April to November, as the other months of the year are spawning season. You can use equipment supplied by the lodge or bring your own gear. Tigerfish, yellowfish, and bream are just three examples of the species you might encounter here.

Guests with an interest in culture can take up opportunities to visit a couple of local villages. You’ll meet the residents and find out all about their ways of life during guided walks and interactions.

Head down to the Falls for tours, wet-and-wild watersports, and even helicopter flights! Here’s our top experiences at Victoria Falls .

Royal Chundu has a first-rate kids club. Youngsters can participate in cruises, catch-and-release fishing, birding and frog safaris, village life lessons, and much more besides!

*This property is unfenced and although animal densities are not that high along this stretch of the Zambezi River, there is always the potential for dangerous game. So if you opt to stay here please always be cautious and look out for wildlife when walking around, especially at night.

The communal buildings at Royal Chundu River Lodge are approached from the guest suites along elevated wooden walkways.
Raised above ground level, these too are made out of timber and thatch. They include the sumptuous lounge, with its medley of leather sofas, wicker settees, and suede seating, all under elegant lighting. The walls are fairly festooned with colourful maps and pictures! The lodge’s bar is set up along the back wall, while the front is open to amazing vistas over the river. A library and TV room also provide pleasant spaces for relaxation. In the restaurant, chic tables-and-chairs are arranged in readiness for delicious meals. Guests can also eat in the boma, a popular place for al fresco gatherings! Anyone in need of a little pampering can request a spa treatment, such as a massage. And the lodge’s swimming pool, flanked by inviting sunloungers, is the perfect place to cool off in between activities, all the while marvelling at river views.
