Our Safari Partners

Founded in 1986, Robin Pope Safaris is a family-run business that prides itself on its pioneering walking safaris in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park.

Robin Pope grew up in Zambia, where he began working for Zambia Safaris in 1975. Ten years later, he founded his own company, Robin Pope Safaris, and opened his first camp, Tena Tena, in 1986. The company has grown over the years and now has several rustic-luxe camps, lodges, and exclusive-use homes in prime wildlife-viewing areas in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

Robin Pope Safaris is a brand that stands for authenticity and stripped-back luxury. The family-friendly camps are simple but extremely comfortable, with a focus on truly wild locations and the highest quality of guiding. Running since 1991, Robin Pope’s walking safaris were the first of their kind in Africa, and they remain some of the best and most well organised in the South Luangwa. Over the years, the company has expanded its reach into Zimbabwe and Malawi, allowing travellers to enjoy multi-country safaris with ease. It also owns two exclusive-use residences in the South Luangwa, one of which is suitable for children of all ages.

The company offers special interest itineraries, including photography, a Kasanka bat safari, and a Luangwa River expedition that takes place during the emerald season in February and March. Robin Pope Safaris is committed to adhering to responsible tourism practices, including recycling, using green technology, and conserving water. It supports several initiatives, including the anti-poaching activities of Conservation South Luangwa and the Zambezi Elephant Fund in Zimbabwe. Furthermore, the camps and lodges benefit local communities through training, employment, and contributions to healthcare, education, and local trade.
