These take place in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, alongside the Savuti Channel. For decades, the channel’s waters have ebbed and flowed, but there’s always plenty to see on game drives. The area around the Savuti Marsh features sprawling savanna and thick mopane woodland, and it’s home to a fine assortment of predators and herbivores. Wildlife highlights include lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – four of the Big Five ! You can also look out for rarer mammals such as wild dog, brown hyena, and sable antelope.

Guests interested in viewing the nocturnal species of the Linyanti will appreciate opportunities to explore the reserve with their guide after sunset. As well as leopard, you might spot civet, genet, and the prickly porcupine!

Walks are also enjoyed in the presence of a knowledgeable guide. You’ll get to know the smaller lives of the Linyanti – its plants, insects, and brilliant birdlife. Over 450 types of feathery friends have been recorded here!

If the Savuti Channel is flowing during your visit, you can board a boat and take a look at the wildlife of the waters, not least crocs, hippos, and various waterbirds.

Not far from camp, there’s a hide overlooking the channel. It’s fantastic for close observation of wildlife.

Why not while away an afternoon on the water? A nice change of pace from a game drive, fishing also offers chances to observe big game coming to drink at the channel.

Adventurous travelers will love drifting off to sleep with the sounds of nature all around. This is one of the most memorable activities Wilderness Savuti provides. The ‘Savuti Star Bed’ overlooks the Savuti Channel and is the perfect place to photograph animals and birds. It is located over an hour away from the camp and is considered a half-day experience. Guests will take an afternoon drive from camp to the sleepout, stay overnight, and return at the end of the morning drive, which will offer plenty of game sightings.

Both budding and professional photographers can take a little time to finesse their shots of the Linyanti and its wildlife. Please contact a member of the YZ team for further details about this and anything else to do with Wilderness Savuti .
