On the first floor, there’s a large indoor lounge, which is known as the drawing room. It features plush sofas and winged armchairs around a big old explorer’s chest put to use as a coffee table. An immense cabinet to one side of the room contains a good selection of reading material, and an elegant chandelier dangles from the ceiling between exposed beams. This space flows through into the main dining room, which has brocade chairs surrounding a table laden with elegant cutlery and a couple of candelabras. Upstairs, there’s a less formal lounge, with a television and a few DVDs. The outdoor seating areas have a more laidback vibe too, but they still have a touch of grandeur. They include Karen Gables’ bar, which is adjacent to the inviting heated swimming pool! And the guesthouse also has over half a hectare of lovely gardens, perfect for a relaxing stroll.
