Nigel Archer’s Seringet Mara is a charming tented safari camp set on the confluence of the Talek and Mara rivers. The camp is owner run and managed by Nigel and Carys, who provide personal service with a strong focus on guiding that truly sets them apart. This feels like a real hidden Gem in the Mara!

  • Professionally guided morning and afternoon game drives take place in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The camp’s location makes it ideal for experiencing the heightened drama of the Great Migration river crossings. However, you’ll experience plenty of wildlife action here at any time of year, with frequent sightings of lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra.

  • Spend the whole day out on a guided safari, with a picnic breakfast or lunch, ensuring you maximise your time in the bush and seek out as much wildlife as possible! For an additional fee, the camp can arrange a full mobile bush breakfast or brunch in the reserve.

  • Led by an armed ranger, safari walks take place just outside the reserve. Here, you’ll gain a unique perspective on the ecosystem, including its diverse birdlife and plant species. Please note that this activity incurs an extra cost.

  • Book an exclusive-use vehicle and hone your wildlife photography. Photographic game drives have a strong focus on composition, positioning, and capturing the light, ensuring you return home having captured all your favorite Maasai Mara scenes. Please note that photographic safaris incur an additional cost.

  • Glide high above the Maasai Mara’s game-rich plains on a hot-air balloon excursion, ending with a memorable champagne breakfast at the landing site. A truly mesmerising way to experience one of the world’s most iconic settings. This activity incurs an extra cost too.

  • Ethical and community-led Maasai village visits are available at an additional cost. Guests can also request beading, spear-throwing, or fire-making workshops in camp, bush survival skills, traditional dance performances, and learning basic Maa or Swahili phrases.

  • As a family-friendly camp, Seringet Mara has plenty of supervised activities to keep younger guests occupied. These include making bows and arrows, rungu throwing, beading, educational bird walks, fishing, Maa lessons, marshmallow roasting, painting, cookie making, and board games.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Seringet Mara is an elegant camp with a classic feel that reflects the safari of yesteryear. The traditional under-canvas style features deep-seated sofas and wooden trunks repurposed as coffee tables, richly colored kilims, and locally sourced crafts. Nestled in the riverine forest, the open-sided mess tent houses a comfortable lounge, bar, and dining space where guests congregate for communal dinners by candlelight. Breakfasts are typically enjoyed as picnics during early-morning game drives, while lunch is served al fresco back at camp. After dark, it’s time to slow down with a drink around the campfire, while tuning into the nocturnal sounds of the Maasai Mara. Finally, while there isn’t a dedicated spa, those seeking wellness elements during their stay can request sunrise yoga or meditation sessions in the bush, and in-tent massages.
