Stargazing

Wildlife viewing

  • The Etendeka experience features three- or four-day walking itineraries designed for lovers of the great outdoors. Led by experienced and passionate guides, you’ll explore the remote corners of northern Damaraland, taking in its striking landscapes, dry riverbeds, ancient rocks, and unique flora and fauna along the way. Good fitness levels are required, and guests are advised to bring well ‘walked-in’ hiking boots, a hat, and plenty of sunblock! The ability to walk in rugged terrain, often in high temperatures, for 6 to 7 hours is required.

  • Zero light pollution makes for stargazing in some of the clearest night skies on Earth. At Etendeka, you’ll sleep in the open air, on a wooden platform, gazing up at the Milky Way.

  • Your guide will point out unique desert-adapted wildlife on your walks, including birds and plant species. This is a marvellous opportunity for nature lovers, so you’ll want to keep your binoculars and a good camera close by!
