The beauty of Mushara Lodge is that you have the best of both worlds. The focus is most definitely on the relaxation and luxurious surroundings of the property itself, but you can also take advantage of the guided game-viewing excursions into Etosha, which is right on your doorstep!

Self-drive safaris

  • During the dry season, the wildlife gathers around the waterholes across the reserve – this is a fantastic time to see lion, elephant, giraffe, rhino, leopard, zebra and springbok, among others.

  • During the green season, although you will not see as much animal movement, the views are stunning! Compared with other destinations for safari in Namibia and beyond, there is not a huge deal on offer in terms of guided tours of the area from Mushara Lodge itself, but that is the point.

  • This place is designed for solo travellers or small groups/families who are driving themselves into safari and need somewhere to recharge or relax before setting off into the national park for a few days. It is the perfect place for those seasoned travellers with a budget to be a little bit more comfortable!

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. The communal areas offer plenty of space in well-finished and beautifully furnished lounge and dining rooms. There is also an extensive wine cellar! The focal point, however, is the swimming pool. In the lounge area you are greeted by a beautiful fountain – you can sit and relax in the comfortable sofas, while looking up at the pretty lanterns adorning the high ceiling. The whole area is well appointed and has luscious green lawns as well. High-quality service is available in the curio shop, where you can purchase trinkets from your trip. As Mushara Lodge is open all year round, you will find a warm welcome even in winter, with a friendly fireplace in the spacious lounge area and a décor that has been carefully curated, with a mixture of traditional and modern African artwork.

Amenities

Situated in a horseshoe around the swimming pool, the centrepiece of the lodge, are ten thatched chalets.

These were extensively redecorated and refurnished during the last revamp – and now they have an elegant feel. Stone floors combine effortlessly with cream colours to bring warmth, while twin or double beds are made up with the finest white linen to give a clean, crisp edge to your stay. Mosquito nets provide safety from the little biters during the night, and there is also air conditioning plus a mini bar, safe and telephone in each chalet. En-suite showers can be found in these ten chalets. Three more rooms are located slightly away from the main area. Each of these is open plan and en suite, facing out to the bush and featuring a patio with comfortable tables and chairs. On the opposite side of the lodge is the family house, which is perfect for children of all ages. There are two en-suite bedrooms, a large lounge/dining area in perfect harmony with the communal décor, a large bathtub, and even a climbing frame in the garden! This is ideal for the little ones to enjoy themselves, while you relax.
