Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Great choice
Angama Amboseli brings a new level of luxury to the area. Whilst we haven’t been there yet, we are genuinely excited about the camp. Sister property, Angama Mara, is one we love, and Angama Amboseli brings those same levels of luxury, service, and experience to the Amboseli Region.

Activities

Angama Amboseli offers two exciting activities, as follows:

Expertly guided game drives

Walking safaris

  • These will take place in the Kimana Sanctuary during early morning and late afternoon into evening, to avoid the heat of the day. Amboseli is particularly famous for its elephant numbers, but there’s a lot of other wildlife to enjoy. The park is home to four of the Big Five – lion, leopard, and buffalo as well as the eles. Smaller predators and herbivores to look out for include cheetah, spotted hyena, jackals, Maasai giraffe, Burchell’s zebra, wildebeest, and all sorts of antelopes. Bird populations are impressive too.

  • Walks in the Kimana Sanctuary, in the company of a knowledgeable guide, will be a wonderful way to get to know the plants and insects of the area. You’ll also have opportunities to birdwatch. Over 400 species have been recorded in Amboseli, among them a real wealth of waterbirds. For more information about activities from camp or anything else to do with staying here, please contact a member of the Yellow Zebra team.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

Access & Location

The property is located in the middle of the Kimana Sanctuary in Amboseli National Park. Most travelers will fly into Kimana’s airstrip from Nairobi, although it’s possible to self-drive 3 hours from Kenya’s capital, or transfer from Amboseli or Chyulu Hill airstrips, both approx. 1.5 hours’ drive. Angama Amboseli is set in the heart of a fever tree forest, home to thousands of elephants, four of the Big Five, and excellent populations of resident and migratory birds. Kimana Sanctuary is an excellent start or finish to an itinerary, either to acclimatise or to wind down. It can be coupled with its stunning sister camp, Angama Mara (again with some of the best views in Africa).

With this in mind, all the 10 detached suites have been constructed in gorgeous, contemporary African design – sustainable and locally sourced. The suites are a mix of canvas roof with concrete walls – spacious, private, classy. The natural, earthy colors will welcome you back to glorious comfort after a long day in the bush. It’s important to mention the views again – all the rooms, indeed the whole camp, have been specifically constructed so you can see the mighty Kilimanjaro at all times!
