Located within the private Kulala Wilderness Reserve, Wilderness Kulala Desert Lodge is one of our top choices for the Sossusvlei region. A highlight of staying here is the lodge’s exclusive-use gate to the Namib-Naukluft National Park, allowing guests to explore the iconic towering dunes at sunrise.

Wilderness Kulala Desert Lodge has a picture-perfect setting, where the views of the desert and Namib-Naukluft Mountains are amongst the best of any property in the area. Early private access to the terracotta Sossusvlei dunes is a highlight here, allowing guests to hike in the early morning light before the crowds arrive. Hot air ballooning over this vast, ancient landscape is an experience we highly recommend – something you won’t soon forget! Overall, a good-value, family-friendly lodge and one of our favourites in this must-visit region.

Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Great value for quality
Wilderness Kulala Desert Lodge is located on a private reserve, yet it offers a private access gate into the Namib Naukluft Park to beat the crowds making their way to Sossusvlei from the Sesriem Gate – well worth paying that little bit extra.
