Premium price, but truly exceptional
There’s not much that needs to be said about Ellerman House. It is an absolutely outstanding property and one of the best hotels in Africa. With some of the best views, stunning suites, and exceptional service, this is an incredibly luxurious property. Really very good indeed!

In the lounge, super-plush sofas and armchairs surround a selection of tables and ottomans. Elegant chandeliers dangle from the ceiling and interesting artwork adorns the walls. The library provides a pleasant space for some quiet time. Chic individual tables are exquisitely laid in the dining room in readiness for delicious meals, and guests can also tuck in to tasty fare on any of the spacious terraces surrounding the hotel. A full range of beverages, not least a bottle from Ellerman’s own wine cellar, is available from the well-stocked bar. Tastings are offered every afternoon, and you can also have fun browsing the gallery of South African art. You can pop to the pantry too, to pick up a homemade snack or two in between meals. Fitness fans can head to the gym for a thorough work-out, while anyone in need of a little pampering can visit the soothing spa. The hotel’s gardens provide a serene setting for relaxing in between activities, and the heated lap pool is perfect for a quick dip or a few lengths as part of your exercise regime!

Rooms come in four categories – Classic House, Superior House, Deluxe House, and Deluxe Spa. All are individually styled. The classic room offers a sumptuous bed, bedside lighting, a writing desk and chair, and a separate seating area. In-room amenities include air conditioning, under-floor heating, satellite television, and a tea-and-coffee station, while the en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, shower, and bath. The superior room benefits from all these features, in addition to a lovely ocean view. Guests of the deluxe room enjoy access to a private terrace, and two deluxe spa rooms are positioned adjacent to the Ellerman House Spa and share a deck complete with infinity pool! Finally, the two villas, situated in the hotel grounds and on the slopes of the majestic Lion’s Head, boast three bedrooms apiece, as well as a lounge and dining area, and a deck with private pool. Villa One is suitable for children of all ages, whereas Villa Two has a minimum age requirement of 10 years. Both villas are serviced by a private chef and hospitality team, and villa guests are welcome to make use of the hotel’s wine gallery and spa.
