  • Lion Sands Game Reserve covers 5,000 hectares of plains, woodlands, and water sources within the Greater Kruger region, including the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Tinga is based in the southern sector of Kruger National Park . Drives head out during early morning and late afternoon, and they offer opportunities to see an incredible wealth of wildlife! You can look out for all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – as well as numerous smaller predators and herbivores.

  • Starting out from the lodge after breakfast, walks are also enjoyed in the presence of a knowledgeable and experienced guide. They’re perfect for anyone interested in taking a close look at Lion Sands’ smaller lives – its plants, insects, and birdlife. There are over 450 types birds here, ranging from the majestic hawk eagle to the vibrant emerald cuckoo. Please note, walks have a minimum age requirement of 16 years, and safarists aged over 60 must provide a medical certificate stating they’re in good health.

  • A night in Tinga’s Tinyeleti Treehouse is an amazing experience! You’ll head into the reserve just before sunset, tucking into a picnic supper as the sun descends before drifting off to sleep under a canopy of stars and surrounded by the sounds of nocturnal wildlife. The treehouse accommodates a maximum of two adults and two children aged 10 to 14 years.

The lodge is accessed via 5 minutes’ road transfer from Skukuza Airport. It’s situated amidst shady trees on the banks of the Sabie river, in the Lion Sands Game Reserve, within the southern region of Kruger National Park.

They’re set up around an impressive centrally situated building. The lounge is perhaps the most colonial part of the property, with its plush winged armchairs, sleek hardwood coffee tables, intriguing range of artefacts, and two grand fireplaces, one topped with a set of decorative antlers. The dining area is similar in style, and has one long table where guests eat together. Moving out of the lodge and towards the river, there’s a deck for al fresco lounging and dining, as well as a boma for outdoor dining. Tinga provides spa treatments too, and you can also unwind in the welcoming riverside swimming pool!

Guest accommodation consists of nine suites and the private two-bedroom Hi’Nkweni Villa.

All suites are positioned along the banks of the River Sabie. Entering via a single wooden door at the back of the suite, you’ll arrive in a very spacious open-plan bedroom and lounge. This area features a king-size bed or twin beds, bedside stands and lighting, storage furniture, and comfortable seating around a coffee table. Amenities include air conditioning, fans, mosquito nets, telephone, safe, mini-bar, and hairdryer. The en-suite washroom is positioned to the right of the bedroom, and it contains separate flush toilet, twin washbasins, circular shower, and bathtub next to the window, so you can take a soak while enjoying river views. There’s an outside shower too! From the bedroom/lounge, double doors lead out onto a very wide wooden viewing deck, complete with private plunge pool. Hi’Nkweni Villa offers two en-suite bedrooms, a lobby, a large lounge, open air bathrooms, a deck with a swimming pool, and an entire team of staff to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
