The nearest airport is Skukuza Airport, and flights are available daily from Johannesburg and Cape Town. Alternatively, you could transfer via road, as with its 11 road entrances the Kruger is very accessible to self-drivers.

Unique, but not for all
While we don’t usually recommend lodges in the main Kruger Park, this one is an exception! The lodge sits in its own private concession, meaning it is away from the crowds. It also combines really well with its sister property, Rhino Walking Safaris, which is great for those who would like the opportunity to explore on foot.

Guests interested in walks might like to consider combining their stay here with a few days at sister property Rhino Walking Safaris.
Post’s game drives take place during early morning and late afternoon into evening, in the lodge’s concession and in Kruger National Park. Both areas are wonderful for wildlife.
All of the Big Five species – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – are in residence, along with numerous other predators and herbivores.
Evening drives provide opportunities for guests to check out the nocturnal animals, including civet, genet, and serval.
If you are a keen birder, you will love taking a tailor-made birding safari – booked in advance, this activity involves spotting and photographing the Kruger’s hundreds of feathery friends in the company of an expert birder.
Another intense experience of wildlife here is the sleepout – also pre-booked, this comprises being driven from Rhino Post’s main lodge to a smaller site where platforms have been set up.
Guests enjoy dinner prepared on an open fire, before going to sleep under the night sky and with the sounds of nature all around.
Finally, the property offers golf. The concession boasts its own course, with nine holes and views of warthog, impala, and even baboon – a real treat for travellers who combine interests in golf and game viewing.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.

The communal building is a two-story timber, stone, and thatch structure that blends beautifully with the surrounding bushscape, including the immense tamboti trees that stand alongside the dining area.
Its interiors include a lounge with plenty of comfortable seating, a cozy fireplace, and an adjoining bar complete with wine cellar. The dining space features smart wooden tables and chairs, and it flows out onto a deck with amazing views of a dry riverbed and wooded bank beyond. The deck incorporates a fire pit too, as well as a swimming pool. And Rhino Post also has a gift shop, which stocks an assortment of clothing, curios, books, and toys.

Guest accommodation here consists of eight suites, all within timber, stone, thatch, and canvas structures linked to the communal lodge along wooden walkways.
All suites are comfortably furnished, with a double bed or twin beds, bedside tables and lighting, a separate seating area, a desk and chair, and ample storage space. Amenities include an overhead fan, mosquito nets, a telephone, a tea-and-coffee station, a mini-bar, a safe, a hairdryer, and bathrobes. The bathroom is en suite and contains flush toilet, twin washbasins, and freestanding bath. There is also an outdoor shower. This is surrounded by reed poles, so it feels very private. Guests have a private deck too – from here, you can enjoy gorgeous views of the riverbed.
