Bomani is a great option for travellers hoping to get off the well-worn tourist trail and to become acquainted with the remoter parts of Hwange. We applaud Imvelo’s conservation and social investments, which make for a very ethical approach to tourism!

Our Yellow Zebra Opinion
  • Well-rounded and reliable
Bomani ticks the boxes for affordability and privacy in Hwange. Located within its own concession, it offers diverse activities and great Big Five game viewing. It’s well worth taking the ‘Elephant Express’ tram from Vic Falls to the reserve for a unique travel day!

  • Game drives during the day are possible both within the private concession and in Hwange. Frequently guests see all Big Five animals here (though please note it is very rare to see rhino) , in addition to zebra, antelope, cheetah, hippo, and many more! The birdlife is also impressive. At night, guests have free rein of the concession and it is not uncommon to spot such species as hyena, pangolin, porcupine, mongoose.

  • Walking safaris are equally exciting and another popular activity is ‘Pump Runs’, where guests head out with a guide to visit the 19 waterholes in the park that are operated by Imvelo. These visits involve dropping off fuel and oil for the motors and supplies for the pump attendants, then having a picnic lunch near one of the waterholes.

  • Finally, Bomani is happy to organize school tours and village visits, providing opportunities for guests to learn about the local area just 15 minutes from the lodge! This is well worth doing, if you have the time.

  • Imvelo’s interest in giving back to the local area is also shown in its employment of local people. The guides here know Hwange really well and service overall is welcoming and friendly. Guests appreciate the lack of rigidity in planning the day (and night) ahead, while the lodge is pleased to arrange private dining whenever it suits.
