Trip Itinerary
Timbavati
To start this South Africa safari, you’ll head to the wildlife-rich region of Timbavati and stay at Ngala Safari Lodge for three nights. Owned and operated by &Beyond, Ngala has a gorgeous location overlooking a seasonal river, within its own reserve. The communal lodge is made out of timber, stone, and thatch, lending a distinct safari feel. The lounge and dining spaces are both chic and cosy, while the outdoor areas feature an authentic boma for meals and a big swimming pool! There’s a spa too, as well as a gym. Elegantly furnished, the guest cottages feature a private veranda, where you can relax and marvel at river views. Activities include expertly guided game drives, walking safaris, tracking, rhino notching, and photographic safaris. The Ngala Reserve is home to all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo – in addition to numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and over 350 species of bird!
Phinda Game Reserve
From Timbavati, you’ll travel to Phinda Private Game Reserve. Here, you’ll stay at &Beyond Phinda Forest Lodge. A one-of-a-kind eco-lodge set within a very rare and beautiful sand forest, this &Beyond Phinda property is stylish and luxurious, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows, guest suites that are raised above the forest floor, and private decks where you can soak up the forest atmosphere. The rooms are minimalist with dark wood furniture and light interiors – all the better to draw the eye out towards the surrounding forest. The lodge has a dining deck, a well-stocked bar, an interactive kitchen, a boma area, and a rim-flow swimming pool, while there are a number of classic safari activities available. Lion, black and white rhino, cheetah, and nyala are just a few wildlife highlights that you can spot on the expertly guided game drives. Further afield and at an additional cost, you can actively participate in various conservation activities and if you travel here during November/December, you can take part in a turtle-nesting adventure!
